Deutsch: Das Bankhaus Ahlmann wurde von dem Unternehmer, Verleger und Politiker Wilhelm Hans Ahlmann (* 1817; † 1910) 1852 im Kiel gegründet.
Das denkmalgeschützte ehemalige Ahlmannbankgebäude (1927, auch Ahlmannhaus genannt) am Rathausplatz 1-2 in Kiel-Vorstadt wurde nach Entwürfen von den Architekten H. Jaacks und Ludwig Stapf gebaut nach einem Ideen-Wettbewerb „Neugestaltung des Kieler Zentrums um den Kleinen Kiel“ von dem Stadtbaurat Willy Hahn, der auch Einfluss auf die Gestaltung des Bankgebäudes von Ahlmann nahm. Die angebrachte Inschrift „1852 Wilh. Ahlmann 1927“ erinnert an den Gründer des Bankhauses und an das 75jähriges Firmenjubiläum im Jahr 1927.
English: The Ahlmann Bank was founded in Kiel in 1852 by the entrepreneur, publisher and politician Wilhelm Hans Ahlmann (* 1817; † 1910).
The listed former Ahlmann Bank building (1927, also called Ahlmann House) at Rathausplatz 1-2 in Kiel-Vorstadt was built according to designs by the architects H. Jaacks and Ludwig Stapf after an ideas competition “Redesign of the center of Kiel around the Kleiner Kiel” by city planning officer Willy Hahn, who also influenced the design of the Ahlmann bank building. The inscription “1852 Wilh. Ahlmann 1927” commemorates the founder of the bank and the company’s 75th anniversary in 1927.
