Schlag: Drehrichtung bei der Herstellung von Tauwerk; S (linksgeschlagenes) und Z (rechtsgeschlagen). Beim Arbeiten mit Tauwerk ist es ein Törn oder ein halber Törn um einen Gegenstand. ABoK Glossar S. 606.
Rechtsgängiger Korkenzieher: Die gewöhnliche Drehung ist dieselbe wie bei einem rechtsgängigen Korkenzieher. Man nennt das rechts „geschlagen“. ABoK S. 32
Linksgeschlagen: Ist genau das Gegenteil zu rechtsgeschlagen. ABoK S. 33

The same indications, S and Z, are used to indicate crossings and orientations of knots. Crossing strands can be orientated over S or under S; over Z or under Z.

Sense: Like rope, coils. turns or hitches can be made right-handed or left handed. Fig. 12 shows a right-handed coil; the line rotates clockwise away from the observer, with the arrows. Also, of course, it rotates anticlockwise towards the observer, against the arrows. Fig.13 shows two right-handed turns, and Fig. 13a two left-handed turns. (Dr. Harry Asher.
