English: Auckland was an iron full-rigged ship built in 1874 by Robert Duncan, Glasgow, as Yard No. 80 for Albion Shipping Co. (James Galbraith), Glasgow. Dimensions 240 × 36 × 20.7 ft (73.1 × 10.9 × 6.3 m) and tonnage 1308 GRT 1245 NRT. Sister ship to the same owner's Dunedin (1874), Canterbury (1874), Invercargill (1874), Nelson (1874) and the Wellington (1874). Rigged with royals and double topsails. 1904 solt to A/S Auckland (Sven O. Stray), Kristiansand. 1909 wrecked on Possession Island off the Skeleton Coast on passage Rosario to Luderitz Bay, South Africa.[1][2]
