English: The manufacture of cowbells in the portuguese traditional craftmanship, called Arte chocalheira, is part of the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding since 2015. The Arte chocalheira was once alive in many regions in Portugal while today only in six municipalities this craft is still being practiced. The small town of Alcáçovas is the centre of the Arte chocalheira in Portugal.
Português: A arte chocalheira representa a tradicional produção e manutenção de chocalhos artesanais em Portugal, usados em animais de pasto. Tendo sido uma tradição em várias zonas do país, hoje já só existem artesãos de chocalhos, chamados chocalheiros, em seis concelhos. A vila alentejana de Alcáçovas é hoje o centro da arte chocalheira, declarada parte do Património Cultural Imaterial da Humanidade pela UNESCO em 2015.
