The Annapurneshwari temple of Cherukunnu is a pre-9th century historic site dedicated to mother goddess Parvati in her manifestation of "food giver". It is also called Cherukunnilamma Kovil or Cherukunnu Annapurna temple.

The current Annapurneshwari temple has been significantly restored after the 19th-century. The temple is notable for its colorful murals of Hindu legends from all traditions, woodwork, polished laterite stone and the annual Vishu festival celebrations. The temple has a square plan, several shrines, a temple pond, a temple kitchen that continues the historic tradition of serving free food daily to all pilgrims.
