English: Ancient Roman sarcophagi from Dokimeion/Docimium and other Asia Minor workshops (regardless of their place of discovery or current preservation).
Ancient Roman sarcophagi (relief sarcophagi) were produced in many regions of the Roman Empire. The vast majority of these luxury products have come from three regions though:

• Rome (metropolitan workshops) – some 6,000 sarcophagi and fragments known today (estimation by Guntram Koch, 1982)
• Athens and its surroundings (Attic workshops) – some 1,000 sarcophagi and fragments known today
• Asia Minor (some 400 from Dokimeion/Docimium, plus additional ones from other towns)
• ... and smaller numbers from elsewhere (Danube provinces, Thessaloniki, Gaul, ...).

Sarcophagi were traded and shipped all over the Roman Empire. So, many of them were found (excavated or discovered otherwise) in different regions, possibly quite far from where they had been manufactured. It is important to distinguish between the locations of manufacturing (workshop), discovery (excavation site etc.), and preservation (museum etc.).
