Alkylidyne groups are functional groups formally derived from alkanes by replacement of tree hydrogen atom with formation of a triple bond with other atoms or groups of atoms. Alkylidyne groups have the general formula CnH2n-1. Alkylidine groups are found in alkylidine compounds, which have the general formula CnH2n-1X, where X is any chemical element or group.
