Alejo Berlinguero (1746-1805)

Alejo Berlinguero de la Marca y Gallego. (1746-1805) Born Cartagena 1746, Died Cádiz 1805.

A frigate lieutenant and qualified pilot of the Royal Spanish Armada, cartographer, professor in the Academy of Pilots of the Royal Spanish Armada and watercolour painter.

In 1793 he returned to Cartagena and was put in charge of the Naval (pilot) school there. He was promoted by Royal Order to frigate lieutenant; in his spare time he began to paint in watercolour, the ships of his time. In 1805 he died in the city of Cádiz.

His youngest brother is Agustín Berlinguero (1750-1810), author of a similar series of drawings.
