English: The Church of the Immaculate Conception in the Old Town neighborhood of San Diego, California was established as a parish in 1849, near the place where Fr. Junípero Serra celebrated his first Mass in California on July 2, 1769. Masses were held in parishioners' homes at first, until this Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, now commonly known as the Adobe Chapel, was built in 1858.
