English: The A2 known as the "Autoestrada do Sul" is a major motorway in Portugal. The motorway connects 25 de Abril Bridge in the capital city of Lisbon to the city of Albufeira in Algarve, the country's southern-most mainland province. At the last junction (15) in the south the road joins the A22 autoestradade de Portugal is also known as Via do Infante D. Henrique and the Via Longitudinal do Algarve or sometimes the Via do Infante de Sagres at junction 10.The first section of the A2 was opened in 1966 and the last one was completed in 2002. It extends for fractionally more than 240 km (149 miles). The A2 a toll road and is operated by Brisa - Auto-estradas de Portugal.
