Description photographer
Arthur Henri (sometimes Henry) Poole (b.1850s) was originally from Taunton, Somerset in the United Kingdom. He moved to Waterford, Ireland in the 1880's where he set-up the "Waterford Photographic Company". This business was originally based in Rose Lane, Waterford, and in 1889 moved to #34 The Mall, Waterford. The business also at times operated stationary shops and photography outlets from #11 The Mall, Waterford and #134 The Quay, Waterford. Works from the Poole studio (a considerable number of which are now in collections with the National Library of Ireland) cover Waterford and the South-East of Ireland from the early 1880s through the first half of the 20th century. A. H. Poole himself seemingly mysteriously disappeared c.1929. The 1911 census lists A. H. Poole's children (Elizbeth, Violet, Bertram and Boyan) as photographers and photography assistants in the business.
