-
Young mare with slight roaning visible. Clearer white speckles in the chest and neck might be so-called "snowflakes", or concentrations of varnish roan action. Forehead shows roaning as well.
-
Roaning rather evenly-spread. Large tailed star on head seems to have existed before roaning action. Roaning concentrations mainly at leg junctions.
-
Varnish roan markings with no leopard-like spotting visible.
-
Leopard spotting made visible by varnish roaning.
-
Good contrast between original black colour and white roaning. Some small leopard spotting seen on croup.
-
Larger leopard spotting with varnish roan. Might have had a frost blanket or a small blanket before roaning took place.
-
Old horse almost whitened by varnish roan action. Original colour seen in tail, leopard spotting, at fetlocks and knees and around the eyes. Could have had smaller or larger blanket.
