For instance, please upload your image from File:Exeter cathedral 001.jpg to a new location. Thanks.--Nilfanion (talk) 22:41, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Reply from author. Hi. Thanks for the clarification of the rules. I'm afraid I prefer taking photos and doing edits that don't bother me too much. Uploading a new photo of the same object would require changing over a dozen wiki articles, which is too much. I'll let you do it if you insist on rules. The new photo was taken by me (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/f/f1/20160306224044!Exeter_cathedral_001.jpg) and I am willing to give is away as public domain. A RAW file can be provided if necessary. kovsky (talk) 22:59, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
- Uploading a new photo over another one - even if the old photo is pretty much the same is not ok.
- If you want wiki articles to point at your new image, you should adjust the links to point at it. Yes, that's more work - but that's what editorial choice is about; not having your new version imposed on the various wikis without their knowledge (nevermind active choice).--Nilfanion (talk) 23:04, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
