Hello, Zetalion!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

your question on my talkpage

[edit]

Hi Zetalion, to keep the discussion on one page I've copied your question from my talkpage to here:

  • The copyrights of the images are mine, as the copyright holder transferred them to me. ”Images are free to use.” they are taken in the Church and the priests allow reuse, distribution, commercial use and derivative works, in any way. They gave me blessing to use this photographs. What other "license" do i need? Please help me!!!

Your uploads have been deleted because they were also found on websites, for example File:Monk Gabriel-4.jpg, File:Monk Gabriel-5.jpg, File:Monk Gabriel Love.jpg and File:Monk Gabriel-2.jpg on http://ctarec-gabriel.narod.ru/; File:Jose Munoz Iveron Icon.jpg on http://www.visionsofjesuschrist.com/weeping45.htm; File:St.Mirian Tower.jpg on http://ctarec-gabriel.narod.ru/foto3.htm. The content of websites (including images) is generally copyrighted, even if there is no special (C) note. To the contrary, it may be free only if there is an copyleft note or a Creative-Commons license. So, you have to check whether the owner of the websites are really the rights holder of the photos, because often the owner of non-commercial websites put images from other people/photographers on their website (and sometimes even claim them their own); and you have to check that for all the different websites where your uploads come from. Then you have to ask the rights owner for written permission to upload these images under a free license to Commons. You should be honest to the rights owner about the meaning and consequences of a free license. You will have to agree with them about which license to put the images under. If they still agree, then you should prepare a permission text, taken from the template in Commons:Email templates (also in other languages, but not in Russian), where you have to enter the URLs of the images (or the filenames) and the license name. They have to add the date, to sign it (just with their) and then send it to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org.--Túrelio (talk) 16:16, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Send the permission to OTRS

[edit]
You should forward the permission to use the images to OTRS with this email template. The e-mail adress for OTRS is permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. --Joku Janne(Fi) (Wikiwiki) 16:08, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I got permission for uploading my photos. --Zetalion (talk) 21:05, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Testus (talk) 00:50, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
--Butko (talk) 06:24, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Zetalion (talk) 16:23, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Testus (talk) 16:51, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Zetalion (talk) 18:29, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GNU FDL? --Butko (talk) 21:34, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
A page has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this gallery, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
