Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Pay attention to copyright
File:Valentin Litovsky.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

  • @Magog the Ogre: This was a mistake I think. {{PD-Russia-1996}} states: "This work is non-amateur cinema or television film (or shot, or fragment from it), which was created between January 1, 1929 and January 1, 1946, and also which was first shown in the stated period". Young Pushkin was non-amateur, it was filmed at Lenfilm studio in 1936-37, and date of film director's death does not matter — all rights were contributed to state-funded and state-ruled production company WindEwriX (talk) 05:32, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe this one and two photos below should be discussed on single page, they are very similar informational signs, not artworks WindEwriX (talk) 05:43, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I would like to ask why this image has been flagged for deletion when it only contains plain text and graphic images. Well thank you. LS: Sorry, but I'm not English, so the text is translated via Google Translator. Gateshebe (talk) 12:11, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Geometric shapes in this image do not look simple enough for me, but more important is that it is not your own work as templates on page says, it is political party logo and the site does not tell anything on the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license, so it is better for file to be reviewd by an administrator of Commons to check whether this image can be kept here or should be only fair-use. Also I see that you have uploaded File:SME_RODINA.svg logo as your own work too, but it looks like it is not. Even if something can be marked as {{PD-trivial}} (like File:Team Bratislava.svg) it is not equal to {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. WindEwriX (talk) 12:45, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
But these logos (OĽANO, SME RODINA, etc.) are not duplicated from the website. These images were hand made in Inkscape, as these logos do not exist on the mentioned websites. And why can't they be licensed then {{PD-textlogo}}, when they contain only text and graphic elements? Gateshebe (talk) 13:23, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Consequences of file renaming on the Wikisource in French

[edit]

Dear WindEwriX,

Your renaming of files c:File:Bertereau - Véritable déclaration de la descouverte des mines et minieres de France Beau-Soleil.pdf and c:File:Bertereau - La restitution de Pluton...des mines & minieres de France, cachées & detenues.pdf have a negative impact on the corresponding books on the Wikisource in French, where it is no longer possible to proofread them properly (here and there) because of broken links.

Could you please solve the problem? If you are not sure about how to do it, the simplest solution is probably to restore the former file names.

Also, in the future, could you please avoid making such changes when you see that the Wikimedia Commons file has been imported to Wikisource in the future (this is mentioned here, you can check on the bottom of the page if the file is used on other wikis) and instead write a message to the person who contributed the file to tell them that the filename, for their future book uploads on Wikimedia Commons, should be "[author last name] - [title], [year].[extension]" instead?

Thanks in advance!

-- FreeCorp (talk) 08:46, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. This is new to me and is very surprising, because page on Wikisource was created by the same user who uploaded and requested to rename the file, for the second Wikisource page the situation is similar. Also, old filenames have been kept as redirects so I do not see technical reason to revert them when anyone could still write [[File:Véritable déclaration de la descouverte des mines et minieres de France Beau-Soleil.pdf|thumb]] and it still would work. Please, can you explain in details which links are broken? I see pages from PDF and texts to the left both here and here, so cannot tell what is wrong. If it is only needed to add publication year to the names, you can request renaming via standard tools, but now it is not clear where exactly my fault here so I cannot fix it quickly. WindEwriX (talk) 12:34, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thanks for your quick answer, I had not noticed that the request for renaming came from the uploader, sorry about this. The community of the French language on Wikisource suggested it would be simpler to rename the pages on Wikisource (and will probably tell me what to rename exactly, because with the problems listed below, I'm not sure exactly about what needs to be done on the Wikisource side), so don't worry about it. However here is the list of problems I've noticed currently:
-- FreeCorp (talk) 19:43, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi WindEwriX,
Here the problem is quite minor as the book only have a few pages proofread on Wikisource but you should really be careful when you rename a file used on a Wikisource. Commons:File_renaming does explain much so I'll try to do it here : Wikisource extension heavily rely on files on Commons to do transcription ; when a file is renamed, all pages on Wikisource need to be renamed too (as the extension need the page and the file to be exactly the same), and (to make things worse) it has to be done manually, so it could be quickly very hard to do (for example, if the book is 200 pages long, it means 201 renaming).
Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 12:28, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
