User talk:Willy2000~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

[edit]
Halo Willy2000~commonswiki,
Patstuart (talk) 06:45, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:29, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

When moving files from Wikipedia to Commons
[edit]Hi! When you move files to Commons (example File:Stasiun Bangoduwa.JPG) it would be nice if you added a link to the original file and to the author. The license say "I, the copyright holder of this work..." so at the moment it says that you are the copyright holder of this file.
You can use a tool like http://toolserver.org/~magnus/commonshelper.php to transfer the files or to create a description page. That way the information should be correct.
I also noticed File:Bandar udara minangkabau.jpg where you claim that you took the photo. I noticed that the file has also been uploaded to ms-wiki ms:Fail:Bandar udara minangkabau.jpg in 2009 by ms:User:Malekhanif. Do you operate under different usernames on different wikis? --MGA73 (talk) 21:45, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Blocked
[edit]You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently uploading media that is in violation of Commons' licensing policy, despite our warnings not to do so, and despite our instructions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may add your reason here below this message explaining clearly why you should be unblocked. See block log.

You may come back if you understood the very, very, very basics. I found out that you manipulated the Flickrreview tag already in 2007. For >3 years you do nothing here but uploading unfree files with false license claims. Only a very few files you uploaded from flickr are indeed published under free licenses there, the whole rest is completely unfree and uploaded here with false claims of free licenses. We have many instruction pages. For those people who are too lazy to read some instructions we even have pictorial instructions in the flickr uploadform. You ignored this. Besides the false license claim, besides this bloddy manipulation of review tags (File:Cadar.jpg, File:Deli kangaroo-meat.jpg and so on for evidence) you uploaded a whole lot of files that you have stolen from Panoramio or other websites claiming yourself the author. This all is absolutely inacceptable. This is an emergency block, we dont have the capacities on this project to play babysitter for an expirienced user from another project who MUST know the basic rules and who MUST NOT manipulate processes, make false claims or upload any unfree content. --Martin H. File tagging File:Mendoza Skyline.JPG
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Mendoza Skyline.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Mendoza Skyline.JPG ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Willy2000. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Willy2000~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
