Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You uploaded this image which you claim to be your own work. On the upload page you agreed to place it under a Free license but did not specify which one. Please do so by adding a suitable copyright tag.--Samulili 19:57, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have done that. However, the file was deleted, then uploaded again by another user. Wighson (talk) 09:12, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
File:Pío Pico Bear Flag.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

This is not the California Bear Flag. There is no source other than own work. Additional information is required. Ellin Beltz (talk) 01:03, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
- This is indeed a very well known version of the Bear Flag posted on many websites. I am sorry you were unaware. It is important because it is the first official use of a version of the Bear Flag.
- The original documentary source was in fact included with the file when posted. However, since you did not see that, here are more sources for you to look at.
- More information about this version of the Bear Flag can be found at:
- http://www.vom.com/bearflag/sobearfl.html
- http://loeser.us/flags/california.html
- Note: The original, attributed to Pio Pico, appears on California Proclamation of Independence, mentioned on the first website above. The color and style of bear and star cannot be determined, so are commonly shown as red, black, or in natural color.
