Changing maps

[edit]

Please do not make significant changes to existing maps, like you have done – and undone and done and undone – at File:Far east1.png. The problem is that such a map may be used in articles all over Wikipedia, and it is not certain that your new version is suitable in all of the articles using the file. In some cases it may even be erronous. If you want to make a map that differs significantly from the existing map, you will have to upload it separately under a new title. The repeated flip-flopping of versions can turn out to be very confusing in other parts of Wikipedia. Regards! --TU-nor (talk) 08:30, 3 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is now getting serious. You have to stop your incessant changing of maps. Both the two maps you have been changing back and forth the last days, File:Northern-Europe-map.svg and File:Europe North-European countries map.png are in use in different Wikis, and for both maps there are articles where your addition of other countries is not only questionable, but plain wrong. As I told you above, If you want to make a map that differs significantly from the existing map, you will have to upload it separately under a new title. --TU-nor (talk) 11:51, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New map of the East

[edit]

I created a new map and added it to the article. You can check: File:The Eastern world.svg. I think it is an improvement. Only the Russian Far East is included. Siktira (talk) 22:43, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That's a lot more reasonable, thanks. I do question why you only included Northern Cyprus in the Middle East in that and not the entirety of Cyprus, though.Vesperius (talk) 23:48, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Northern Cyprus is the self-declared breakaway Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. Muslim Turks inhabit that area. Meanwhile, in the south its the part of Cyprus that is a part of the EU. South Cyprus is inhabited by Christian Greeks. If you want to, I can color it entirely. Siktira (talk) 10:32, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please color it entirely, as the general definition of the Middle East includes Cyprus in it's entirety, not just Northern Cyprus. Thank you. Vesperius (talk) 10:42, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have colored the entirety of Cyprus. I have also expanded the map further and added some European areas with a native Muslim-majority and in one case a Buddhist majority (Kalmykia) populations in hatched colors. Siktira (talk) 15:33, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. You could also color in the entirety of North Asia, not just the Russian Far East, but that's up to you. I'd also label what you call North Africa on your map as North Africa and the Greater Middle East, since Mauritania, Somalia, Djibouti and Comoros are not North African, Mauritania being a part of West Africa while Somalia, Djibouti and Comoros are parts of East Africa, but they are all part of the Greater Middle East.Vesperius (talk) 00:30, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
