Sorry about that lock
[edit]Hi Vdv-r31 - Thanks for reaching out to me about the global lock that was placed on your account. I'm leaving this note for the record to state that I believe that lock to have been made in error, as a false positive for a globally banned user. I'm sorry that you were caught up in the mayhem. Please continue to edit the Wikimedia projects, and let me know if there's anything I can do to help. Best wishes, Philippe Beaudette, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 05:44, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Vdv-r31, this is Russavia. I am sorry that the WMF locked your account. I am also sorry that the WMF have used the terminology "false positive" in place of the simple word "incompetence". It needs to be asked of the WMF on what basis this "false positive" occurred. Do you live in Perth, Australia? Do you use Bigpond as your ISP? Do you use hola.org to change your IP at will? I am going to take a guess here and say that the answer to those questions is NO. Your fatal error was signing up after I was globally banned by the WMF (without a credible reason being given) and showing an interest in aviation topics. And the ultimate error was editing File:Irish Defence Force parachutists make a free fall exit from an Irish Air Corps CASA CN 235.jpg which was uploaded by me, and which as you can see from the file history I had attempted to edit constructively, as I have always done, by cleaning up my own uploads and asking for a file rename. I am going to take a guess here, and will say that an editor unknown has snitched to the WMF and they have acted on that report without a single check being run...as I said, incompetence! Again, I am sorry that the WMF locked your account, and as Philippe (WMF) says you are caught in the "mayhem" but it is mayhem that lays directly at the feet of the WMF. 121.221.73.9 07:20, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- Whatever. Thanks for unblocking my account. --Vdv-r31 (talk) 13:40, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
Reverting without explanation
[edit]https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Parasailing&curid=1739891&action=history: I reverted you, with an explanation. You then reverted me, with no rationale whatever. You owe me at least an explanation of the basis for your edit. - Jmabel ! talk 04:57, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- I am sorry. Paragliding and parasailing are not considered part of parachuting, although there are some similarities. --Vdv-r31 (talk) 06:04, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- In what sense is the descent in parasailing not parachuting? - Jmabel ! talk 02:06, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
