File:Isocrates.jpeg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File tagging File:Kritios.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Kritios.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Kritios.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. Postcards Hôtel de l'Espérance?
[edit]Hello Toon VandeW, you uploaded several pictures of what is looking like old photos and in several cases obvious postcards of Hôtel de l'Espérance (see below). You claim all these pictures as your own work. So you claim to be the photographer of pictures that were taken, in some cases probably like 80 or 100 year ago, and were subsequently used by a publisher for printing as postcards. That looks to me very unlikely. Here you wrote that hotel was demolished in 1944. Several if not all of these pictures are also visible on this blog.
Are you really that old that you were the photographer in the 1920's or so? It looks like you just took these pictures from that blog, another website or so. Please explain. - Robotje (talk) 13:38, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Robotje
- Thank you for your message.
- Of course you are right that I'm not the photographer of these old photos, but these postcards are part of the van Welssenaers' family archive.
- Due to the fact that I'm a descendant of this family and subsequently that all these postcards are part of my family archive, I referred to them as "my own work", as it is part of my family collection.
- Furthermore, these old postcards can indeed be found on various blogs and are also often part of other private collectors.
- Yours sincerely Toon VandeW (talk) 15:11, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Owning a postcard doesn't mean you are the owner of the copyright. In general in Belgium the copyright of a photo expires some 70 years after the death of the photographer. For example, for a photo that was taken in 1935 by somebody who died in 1980 the copyright will expire on January 1st 2051. Some exception might exist for a postcard but you need to prove that for all of these 7 images. If you can not, these images needs to be removed. There are more suspicious photos you uploaded. Take
- Toon van Welsenes (1903-1974) looks there about 35 years old so that means the photo was taken around 1938! In that time color photo's hardly existed. Did you add colors to that photo? - Robotje (talk) 15:53, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
Hi Toon VandeW, as the original postcards are in your posession, could you please also check or better upload the front sides of them? We need to know if the front page includes any information about the photographer to determine its copyright status. Even if there is no information, it helps to have proof that no credits were given to the photographer. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 16:55, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
