Thanks for uploading File:LaDonna Smith, "Eye of the Storm".jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:LaDonna Smith, "Eye of the Storm".jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

You need to forward the permission of the photographer to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org . --Túrelio (talk) 08:24, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ToneArmy, do NOT overwrite images from other users, as you have done with File:Ladsmith.JPG. If you have an objection to this image, you can file it for deletion, providing a valid rationale and your eventual conflict of interest. In case of non-public objections, you may contact our support-team at permissions-commons@wikimedia.org . --Túrelio (talk) 08:09, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

All images of Mrs. Smith are now in Category:LaDonna Smith. --Túrelio (talk) 08:19, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you label File:LaDonna Smith performance 2010.JPG as from "2010" when the EXIF camera data state it's from 2009? --Túrelio (talk) 08:24, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

moved from my talkpage to here, in order to keep the discussion at one location
Hello Turelio,

thank you for responding to my issue with the photos representing a biographical article on my work as an artist/ musician and teacher. As a violinist, much of my practice involves the medium of wood and horsehair, so Although I am trying to resolve an issue Of someone overwriting the image which originally accompanied my article in wiki, I am not so adept at all the rules and procedures of Wikipedia, but try as I might, making mistakes and all... I do need and appreciate your help and assistance.

First, I asked that an unprofessional, "poor camera moment" amateur photo of me in someone's kitchen, hardly a "performance" that someone OVERWROTE the ORIGINAL SUBMITTED PHOTO to be deleted. I considered it vandalism of the article, and detrimental to the integrity of the Subject. I requested DELETION by the rules given. It was denied by a Korean admin.

I uploaded 5 suitable photos hoping that one of them would bump the one in question off of the article. It did not happen. Then I tried to overwrite the vandal's photo, and was warned I could not do it.

Now you have questioned the "Eye of the Storm" photo permission. I own the copyright to the photo. It was commissioned from photographer Melissa Springer in 1991 for the CD release of same title and copyrighted by TransMuseq Records, the company that I own. I have sent that info to permissions at wiki. The photo is freely released. It is on the Internet everywhere.

ThanK you for your attention.

Please help me technically to remove/ delete the horribly embarrassing Lad smith.jpg forever from wiki, and to place an alternative professional photo in its place. There are 5 uploaded to commons. I, my colleagues, and my students. Preserve professional integrity. Thank you for your help.

Ladonna

Hi Ladonna,
as you may have seen already, I had replaced the disputed image in the article by a better one.
From your earlier postings/requests it wasn't really clear that you are the depicted person by yourself.
To come to results, I would recommend you to first get the questions about your own uploads in order and thereafter request deletion of the disputed image. This will require some scrutiny, as it is an alltogether different thing to declare an image to be under a free license or just to use it with "some" permission on a website.
  • File:LaDonna Smith, "Eye of the Storm".jpg is described as "photo by Melissa Springer", but at the same time as "own work", which would imply that you are Melissa Springer. For such kind of image we do need a written (email) permission statement from the rights holder/photographer. However, as the image is not of superb quality/size, you might decide by yourself whether it's worth the effort.
  • File:LaDonna Smith.JPG (currently used in the article) is also declared as "own work". Can I take that at face value?
  • File:LaDonna Smith, viola.jpg declared as "own work" and to be from August 2009, while the camera data (EXIF) give June 2007 as date.
  • File:LaDonna Smith, Red Hat Society.jpg declared as "own work", but very unlikely shot by yourself. Please explain.
  • File:LaDonna Smith performance 2010.JPG declared as "own work", but very unlikely shot by yourself. Please explain. The fact that this image has been deleted by an admin-colleague doesn't matter. If needed, it can easily be restored.
