AI upscales
[edit]Please do not upload AI-upscaled versions of images. While they look nice, they do not present an accurate photographic record and are not appropriate for Commons. Note how the AI misinterpreted the shingled roof as cracked paint in File:Florida 84 (cropped).jpg, and added nonsense text to File:BigFoot Fleet 001.JPG. - Why not though :-( TheTransitFanNY (talk) 22:26, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- Commons has a specific scope requiring images to have educational or historical value. Because AI upscaling works by reusing patterns from other images, the resulting image is no longer an accurate rendition of the original scene; this lack of accuracy destroys its historical value. If you want to upload these images elsewhere, there are plenty of image hosting sites like Imgur and Flickr where you can upload whatever you want. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 23:06, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- I disagree, I belive AI upscaling enhances the historical value of images. I don't know why you think it "destroys" its historical value. In regards to File:Florida 84 (cropped).jpg, the changes in appearance to the roof was minor at most and only noticeable to the keen eye. I do understand where you are coming from in regards to File:BigFoot Fleet 001.JPG but again, the text was so low resolution in the original photo that no one could read it anyway and the "nonsense" text is so small and insignificant to the image, no one is likely to pay attention to it anyway, unless they look closely. I understand where you are coming from but I don't feel these enhancements take away from their educational or historical value, I think they actually add to it. Cannon Ball (LIRR train)
[edit]The Long Island Rail Road Cannonball isn't the only train named "Cannonball," or "Cannon Ball." See List of named passenger trains of the United States (C). ----DanTD (talk) 21:18, 24 June 2021 (UTC)
