Hi TheOne. I saw your note at the Village pump.

According to the logs, User:Shizhao deleted the image with a sumamry of "unknown", ie. no source was given. But looking at the deleted edits of that page, it's clear that you did say it was your own work. What happened (I think) was that an anonymous editor (an IP address) removed the licensing and summary information, making it look like it had no source information.

I guess this highlights several problems... one is that pages are subject to vandalism by anons (this is why it is a good idea to always put your own images on your watchlist, so you will notice if their descriptions are changed - if you log in at the commons, that is). A second is that uploaders should always be notified when their images are tagged "no source", so that they have a chance to provide a source (if this had happened, you would have been able to correct the vandalism). Another is that admins need to be vigilant in checking that a request for deletion is not in fact a form of vandalism.

I'm sorry this has happened to you. You are more than welcome to re-upload the image.

Your account will be renamed

Hello,

The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called TheOne. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name TheOne~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
