Extinct bird videos
[edit]Hi, very cool videos, is this video released too? http://www.uitgestorvenvogels.nl/detail.php?lang=uk&id=31 I have just been adding the videos to articles, but I didn't know they were here until now. FunkMonk (talk) 14:02, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- Tekla allows me to answer here (we collaborate): thanks for your work! Yes, we intend to upload that Réunion Starling (RMNH.110050) as well (in a collection of 135 extinct bird videos). By the way, at least most of these birds are not taxidermied, but are (mounted) study skins. Kind regards, Hansmuller (talk) 09:10, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
Toolset request
[edit]Hiya! Please take a couple of minutes to fill out your user page. I see at present a simple statement, but it would be more helpful if you would kindly expand that to a bit more information? Suggested data points include languages spoken, general location, and etc. Thank you! Ellin Beltz (talk) 16:09, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Mis-filed at the museum
[edit]Hi TeklaLilith - this one has obviously been misfiled at the museum, the curator needs to know! :-) File:Naturalis Biodiversity Center - ZMA.AVES.26671 - Larus marinus Linnaeus, 1758 - Laridae - wing specimen.jpeg - MPF (talk) 12:33, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hi MPF, thanks for your input. I figured out what went wrong. This picture got the metadata of ZMA.AVES.26671 but should have got the metadata of ZMA.AVES.26771. I updated the metadata now, but don't know how to update the filename.--TeklaLilith (talk) 11:00, 28 December 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! I've renamed the file now with the correct number and identity: File:Naturalis Biodiversity Center - ZMA.AVES.26771 - Pycnonotus eutilotus Jardine & Selby, 1836 - Pycnonotidae - specimen.jpg :-) MPF (talk) 17:37, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
naturalis.nl Ulmus specimens
[edit]Hello TeklaLilith,
Do you know if there are any plans to upload the Ulmus specimens from bioportal.naturalis.nl?
Many thanks, Tom_elmtalk 12:46, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
Hello Tom_elm,
Sorry for my late replyǃ We do have plans to donate more material, bur I can't tell you when the Ulmus will be done. Meanwhile you can use the Ulmus from bioportal.naturalis.nl (unless otherwise stated, for the content on this site the CC0 licence applies)
--TeklaLilith (talk) 09:37, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
- Hello TeklaLilith, thank you for the reply.
- Hopefully, when I have time I can begin to upload.
- Best wishes, Tom_elmtalk 10:12, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
Expiry of GWToolset user group memberships
[edit]There is a proposal on the Bureaucrat's noticeboard to automatically expire GWT memberships after one year unless the user requests an extension. Please add your views and suggestions to the discussion. The reasonably informal process for getting access to GWT access will remain as is.
Sent by MediaWiki message delivery (talk) on behalf of Revi. 15:42, 31 July 2018 (UTC)
- Per the proposal mentioned above your access to the GW toolset has been removed. Please feel free to request back at any time via the Bureaucrats' noticeboard. --Krd 08:00, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
Important message for file movers
[edit]A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:36, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
