User talk:Tekksavvy
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Deletion Requests for your own files.
[edit]Please do not create any more deletion requests for your own files unless you have a valid reason for them. Do so just wastes valuable time of other editors in dealing with the DRs.
The uploader longer needing or wanting a file on Commons is never a valid reason for deletion. Commons is not your private web host -- it is a public repository for the use of all people all over the world and once you have donated a file to Commons, it will remain here.
If you nominate any more files without a valid reason for doing so, you will be blocked from editing here. If you have questions, you may ask them at the Village Pump in any of 42 languages or on my talk page. I will also watch for questions here on your talk page for at least a week. . Jim . . . . I am trying to free up valuable space by deleting unnecessary files/images. If you or users find these images valuable I can just donate them to wiki! As far as editor's time is concerned...I am interested in finding out if Wikipedia needs editor's assistance (am doing my research on the side) if so I can volunteer!(Tekksavvy) (talk to me) 20:07, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
- Hello. What do you mean by "valuable space"? Wikimedia Commons is not at risk of running our of "space", and that's not a valid rationale for deletion. As for donating the images, Wikimedia Commons is a media repository. It doesn't accept donations, per se, but hosts images that are public domain or are freely licensed in accordance with our licensing requirements. You have licensed the images in question under a cc-by-sa-3.0 Creative Commons license, which means that anyone can use, distribute or alter the photographs, as long as they meet the attribution and share requirements. Hope that helps. And, of course, it would be great if you volunteered on any of the Wikimedia projects. Cheers, --Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:50, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
- "free up valuable space by deleting unnecessary files" can not happen. We keep all files forever. "Deleted" files are not actually removed from Commons servers, they are just marked as not available to public viewing, so a file deletion does not actually save any space at all. . Jim . . . . (Jameslwoodward) (talk to me) 13:21, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
"What do you mean by "valuable space"? Wikimedia Commons is not at risk of running our of "space" " In that case, how about I send images to editors or acquaintances so they may upload it on their account since I'm having issues with this account!
"And, of course, it would be great if you volunteered on any of the Wikimedia projects" Looking for editing position so i can atleast edit the uploads on this account!!
If you decide that you would like to be a useful contributor and not just a nuisance, this block can be reconsidered. As I said in several of the DRs, one nomination is OK, two is misguided, and three times is vandalism. These are useful files, many of them are in use, and you have just wasted a good piece of your time and mine. You are blocked so it won't happen again. . Jim . . . . File:Anatomical terms.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Copyright status: File:Human mandible.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Human mandible.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
