Looks to me a lot like a photo of a copyrighted book illustration... AnonMoos 08:01, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're going to have to explain the source of the Tolkien illustrations in a little more detail than "self-made"... AnonMoos 08:20, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am the artist/illustrator and author of the original work and the author of the photograph uploaded. I can edit that into the descriptions if that is sufficient.TTThom 12:31, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I'm unduly suspicious, but the images look like book illustrations by a professional graphic artist, which have been photographed with a digital camera (i.e. not made on a computer, and not even directly scanned). Some indication of the nature of the project for which the original illustrations were made might serve to allay the suspicions of others besides myself. Even then, you might possibly run into problems with "derivative works"... AnonMoos 06:27, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Drawings

[edit]

Wow! You're such an artist! Rarely have I seen drawings like this. When I saw these drawings I immediately remembere of "Farmer Giles of Ham". Tolkien would have loved your medieval style... Congratulations... I'd like to draw as you do... heheheheh... See you!

My compliments

[edit]

Sir, I am simply writing to tell you that I have been a fan of your work since I first witnessed it long, long ago— I believe I saw it in an issue of Mallorn back when I lived in England and was a member of the Tolkien Society. It struck me as the kind of stylized artwork— like the tomb paintings of the Egyptians or the bas-relief carvings of the Assyrians or the Bayeux Tapestry of the Middle Ages— that would have been that of the Eldar, and I was deeply impressed that someone had found a way to create/ interpret a distinct style that suited the storyline. Not that there aren't lots of wonderful drawings and paintings of Tolkien's work, of course, but that yours have a cultural quality that none of the others does. And I love it. Thank you for making some of that work available on Commons. I recognize it, and I am very grateful to see it again. If I were a weaver of tapestries, you would need to sue me for copyright infringement! (Or not, I guess, since you have released at least some of your work under a free license here on Commons). Alas, I do not weave. But I am grateful, nonetheless. KDS4444 (talk) 06:59, 10 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
