Highway photos
[edit]Hi Ethan,
I guess the only advice I can give is "do what you feel comfortable doing". Lets just say there's quite a few photos I've taken which were, perhaps, not the safest to take. Highway shoulders and median strips, particularly on overpasses, aren't the greatest places in the world, and if you do this as long and as much as I've done it, you'll eventually get an inquiring police officer wondering what it is you are doing or asking you to move to a safer location. Not to mention, there's probably always the risk of an errant motorist heading in your direction. Fortunately, despite my many thousands of photos, none have ever resulted in anything more than an officer telling me to move, and fortunately, that errant motorist hasn't shown up yet. As far as parking goes... don't be afraid to walk a decent distance. I actually walked around downtown Baltimore for several hours in July 2019 during one of the hottest days of the year taking photos of I-83. Famartin (talk) 11:57, 4 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hey there, thank you for replying back! I do think that I probably overthink about the consequences or issues regarding this kind of photography, such as the "no tresspassing" or "no parking" signs or how busy the road may be, or just a really uncomfortable feeling of people staring at me wondering what I'm even doing. I haven't been doing this for as long as you have, and it's definitely going to take some work for me to get adjusted, but I'm also just trying to do what I'm comfortable with, or maybe try to find some sort of alternative if it's in an area that's difficult to reach. Either way, thank you for responding!
