Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:SalemTamilnadu.jpg
[edit]![]() |
This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:SalemTamilnadu.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

- I realise at least a couple of the pictures in this montage come from Commons, but you still need to specify the origin of each image on the file description page, along with evidence that each one has a verifiable, free license, compatible with Commons. Be aware that images copied from other websites without verifiable free licenses are not acceptable. See COM:LIC. -- Begoon 09:26, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- I've now seen what you added to the file page. I've also visited http://tamilnadu-favtourism.blogspot.com.au/2016/06/mookaneri-lake-salem.html. I strongly recommend that you be honest about the origins of this, and the other images. Editors here are very experienced, and do not take kindly to deception. -- Begoon 09:37, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- How i need to mention that this file is taken from another website how is the format — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syedshas (talk • contribs) 09:41, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- You can't. It's a copyright violation, because it is not released under a free license. The only way to use it would be for you to get the owner to confirm permission, in writing, to COM:OTRS.
- Why did you lie about taking it yourself? You do realise that people will now be much less likely to believe any claims you make in future? -- Begoon 09:49, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

- I wouldn't expect you to be blocked on this occasion, just warned. I noticed you removed the image from the article at en.wp, which is good. Yes, the image will probably be deleted.
- I've answered your questions - will you be answering mine, above? -- Begoon 10:08, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- I have also taken some pictures of the lake because i live nearby and i cleaned that picture so i mentioned as own work and i also one of the member who helped in cleaning that lake and other parts of lakes in the city, i will make another collage with my own work which i have taken myself and i want to know how to mention as my own source my pictures are taken from mobile — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syedshas (talk • contribs) 10:12, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- You should first upload the individual pictures, just as you did with your zoo pictures. Then when you make the collage you link to each of the constituent files in Source: on the description page of the new, derivative image. Be aware though, that the images will need to be high quality and relevant to be used as the main infobox image on the article about the city, and don't be upset if it is rejected there for that reason.
- Also be aware that it is taking a lot of time to clean up your errors, here and at en.wp, and while we welcome new users and understand they will make mistakes, there is a certain level of competence required to edit, and our collective patience is not without limit if that competence does not seem to be developing. -- Begoon 10:22, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

- Thanks for the Help I have created one article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Kurumbapatti_Zoological_Park. its in pending submissions, it was previously created by another user it was declined due to no references i have added references its in awaiting review i want one help from you the references i added in that article is sufficient or not please kindly let me know it will be very helpful for me and one more thing i have citation without author its mentioned as special correspondent refer this example news (http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Tiruchirapalli/More-facilities-need-at-Kottai-Mariamman-temple-devotees/article14391629.ece) in this example they have mentioned special correspondent as author so does this will be valid for citation or not — Preceding unsigned comment added by Syedshas (talk • contribs) 10:42, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
- The zoo article references look ok for a short stub. The article could be fleshed out a bit (look at other zoo articles for structure/ideas) but don't go too far and make it too huge for an article on a zoo of that size, The "hindu.com" reference is fine as a citation for what it discusses. Special correspondent is ok in a respected, reliable source. Commons isn't really the place for these questions though - try the wikipedia Teahouse or Helpdesk. And slow down a bit, in general - take the time to think about what you are doing - there's no deadline... -- Begoon 11:01, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

[edit]What is the significance of the text "anant kumaresh" on File:Kurumambapatti zoological park gate .jpg? -- Begoon 04:52, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
It is taken by my friend anant kumaresh with his dslr so he added his name on the picture. Syedshas (talk) 05:00, 31 January 2018 (UTC)Syedshas
- Then you will need to get your "friend" to send permission to use his image to COM:OTRS. You cannot upload other people's images as your own work, and when you do so you are providing false information. -- Begoon 05:24, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Kurumambapatti zoological park gate .jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Kurumambapatti zoological park gate .jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Hello Syedshas.
You have uploaded one or more files that are copyright violations. You have done so despite requests from editors not to do so, and despite their instructions. See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules by subject matter useful. This is your last warning. The next time you upload a file that violates copyright, you will be blocked. Please leave me a message if you have further questions. |
Begoon 09:00, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
