First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Hallo Sven Brinkhoff. Die Signatur ist in Ordnung, ich habe nur wie du auch noch keine Benutzerseite in Commons angelegt. Aber auf die Diskussionsseite kommst du trotzdem, entweder über die leere Benutzerseite oder direkt über den Link in der Signatur. Aber in de:WP sehe ich es eher. Meine Benutzerdisk. findest du unter de:Benutzer_Diskussion:Ausgangskontrolle. Hallo Sven Brinkhoff, zu obigem Foto habe ich zwei Anmerkungen/Rückfragen: Einmal wäre es noch schön zu wissen, wo die Aufnahme entstanden ist. Und dann bezweifele ich doch sehr, dass das Foto am 1. Januar 1993 entstanden ist. Dazu sind die Abgebildeten schlichtweg zu luftig-sommerlich gekleidet. aber ich denke, beides lässt sich aufklären... Gruß --J.-H. Janßen (talk) 20:16, 30 January 2019 (UTC) Hallo J.-H. Janßen. Das Foto habe ich vor 26 Jahren aufgenommen. Zu dem Zeitpunkt war ich 12 Jahre alt. Es war eines meiner ersten Fotos überhaupt. Ich kann mich leider beim besten willen nicht mehr erinnern an welchem Tag im Jahre 1993 es wo genau aufgenommen wurde. Mein Archiv besteht aus dieser Zeit aus 8 Filmrollen welche ich immerhin mit einer Jahreszahl versehen habe. Wikimedia besteht auf einem Aufnahmedatum. Wenn ich das nicht angeben kann bekommt es von mir automatisch den 1. Januar. Präziser kann ich es leider nicht angeben. Der Kleidung nach könnte man natürlich das Datum auf einen Sommermonat legen. Es wäre aber eben auch nur ein erfundenes Datum, was der Betrachter beim 1. Januar aber leichter erkennen kann. Hallo Sven, ich habe gerade einige Bearbeitungen von dir, wo du einzelne Fotos in die Category:Recipients of the Medal of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany einsortiert hast, wieder rückgängig gemacht. Die Personenkategorien sind bereits da enthalten, daher brauchen die Einzelfotos nicht mehr da einsortiert werden. Raymond 16:55, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Raymond, sie sind jedoch nicht in der Gallerie unter der Kategorie wenn sie nur als Personen einkategoriert werden. Siehe https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Recipients_of_the_Medal_of_the_Order_of_Merit_of_the_Federal_Republic_of_Germany?uselang=de Desswegen habe ich diverse Beispielfotos extra kategorisiert. Nein, da sind sie natürlich nicht drin. Du missverstehst hier die Funktion der Kategorien. Nur wenn es für eine Person keine eigene Kategorie gibt, kann ein einzelnes Foto direkt in die Kategorie einsortiert werden. Das was du möchtest, nennt sich auf Wikimedia Commons "Galerie", siehe Commons:Galleries/de. Dort kannst du eine Auswahl an Bildern kuratiert reinsetzen. Das wäre dann die Seite Recipients of the Medal of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Raymond 20:05, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
