Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hello Sunil060902!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. BotMultichill (talk) 13:05, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Your DLR Images
[edit]Hello Sunil,
I'm just writing to let you know that I am using the following DLR images in the next Issue of Tramways Monthly E-Magazine, that I am editor of, as we are running a DLR feature. I hope that this is ok, and I don't see there being any problem as they are CC/GFDL. I am going to credit them under your username, linking to your userpage, unless you wish for me to put something differently.
Kind regards,

Reupload
[edit]Hello. I noticed you reuploaded File:Beckenham Road tramstop look east2.JPG. A reuploading is admissible for other (technically modified) version of the same image, not for upload of another image of the identical subject. If you create some better image, you need to upload it under some other name. In addition, in your case, the pair of photos illustrates superbly a reconstruction of a switch. There is no reason to abandon the old photo. --ŠJů (talk) 01:52, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:East London line all change.JPG. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.

Categorisiation
[edit]Hi,
I see you've categorised some of your files under 'Birmingham in the 2010', there is a '2015 in Birmingham' category that is more specific, better still, if you could categorise them by month and year; if it's not created it will be shortly (or you could do it)..
Thanks, kind regards,

This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Reading station high westbound platforms 7 8.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

GWR
[edit]Hi, thanks for the photos of the new-look stations on the Elizabeth Line.
I'd question the categorisation though, and putting each one directly under Great Western Railway. The GWR closed in the 1940s. This photo has no connection to the GWR. Any transitive connection to it through West Drayton station should be handled through that category, not on each image. If there's something specific to single images, like a particualr building, that should be done through a more specific sub-cat of GWR (such as "GWR platform benches" etc.). Otherwise the very broad GWR category is just going to bloat up with thousands of images in there directly, when they have only a distant link to it. Andy Dingley (talk) 08:56, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
