File:Deirdre2.jpg
[edit]Hello Deirdre. It seems you want to have File:Deirdre2.jpg image (now a duplicate from File:Deirdre-Sullivan-Beeman headshot.jpg) in the Category:Archives.
This is not necessary and not desirable for two reasons:
- Wikimedia Commons as a whole is a giant archiving system
- Category:Archives is ment for institutions archiving documents like e.g. the California State Archive or the Archives of American Art (Washington, D.C.). You may clic on Category:Archives and look at the content, and clic again and discover more.
The Category:Deirdre Sullivan-Beeman is itself part of some broader categories (People of Los Angeles, Surrealist artists, Painters from the United States), themselves part of broader categories, etc.
You don't need to duplicate photographs. The right way is to add the relevant categories to each document.
Thank you for sharing. All the best.--MHM (talk) 20:32, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
If you want to replace an image by another with better quality, you should use the button in the « File history » section at the bottom: « Upload a new version of this file ». --MHM (talk) 21:08, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
