User talk:Stuvio
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Project scope
[edit]Hi Stuvio, please respect that Commons has a project scope and that contributed images must be realistically useful for an educational purpose. Therefore please give useful descriptions and useful categories to your images so that every other user can find your images through the categories and can understand what you want to teach with the images through their descriptions. Note that Category:WWI for your images is wrong (look into this category!) and that Category:World War I is much too general and inaccurate for images of a certain object at a certain location. Therefore please always keep things educational: Always categorize as exact as possible the object and the location (frequently possible with one category) of what is visible in each image. Use the search tool fo find appropriate categories. For instance if you search for "Tyne Cot" you soon find Category:Tyne Cot Cemetery for your File:Memorial Wall Tyne Cot.jpg. Editing
[edit]Hi, I just wanted to participate in the Wiki Loves Monuments thing but that clearly didn't work out like I wanted. I can't edit the information (it seems).
