Question involving knowledge of Japanese

[edit]

... and Ryukyu history. Please see File talk:Procession of_Joseon mission.jpg. It is possible that the file is misnamed, Nanshu is indicating that the Japanese text visible in this image indicates this is a mission from Ryukyu, and if I had to guess, I'd think he might be right. Thanks. --Abd (talk) 21:07, 14 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ryukyuan coins

[edit]

Hello, since you visit the Okinawa prefecture a lot, do you think that you can upload images of these coins to Wikimedia Commons? Generally speaking most coins from the Kingdom of Ryukyu aren’t rare and apparently go in Okinawa for less than $ 5,- (except for the 中山通寳 which is expensive) however they seem to be impossible to find on the internet (eBay, Marktplaats.nl, and the like) so I would rather ask it of someone I know gets stationed in Ryukyu every now and then. It's probably easy to find them in a museum.

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Background remover

[edit]
An example of an image where the background was removed using Remove.bg.

In case you're interested, there is this really cool background remover over at Remove.bg (not a paid promotion, I hope that this is obvious for neutral parties) and to show an example that statue of the Shisa I wanted to include into the template header looks like this using it, sure the dimensions aren't perfect and because I only have access to Microsoft Paint for changing the size of an image's borders it doesn't "the best" it could, but it still is quite a handy Artificial Intelligence-based tool if you want to make basic adjustments like these. Obviously, I don't think that this improves such photographs as where a statue is placed (its "background") is important too, but I can understand some "photo-purists" using it to isolate objects, get rid of "human elements", Etc. and it's handy for things like coins. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 16:44, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
