User talk:Sticks66
Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel irc:wikimedia-commons #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Suggested Commons workflow
[edit]Here's what I suggest could be done. It's not the only way of doing things but it works for me:
- Vera to upload file to Category:Unidentified sportspeople from Australia, tagged only with category Photographs by Vera Búcsú
- Vera to let Sticks66 know when something is there, or Sticks66 could have a look from time to time
- Schwede66 to move file (rename) to achieve a meaningful file name; I don't think you would have the user rights to do that
- Sticks66 to create category for the rower (if none exists yet); I can show you how that's done
- Add other categories to each file as might be appropriate
- Category to be linked to Wikidata; this will also link it to the various Wikipedia articles in all languages; again I can show you how that's done
- Portrait photo added to Wikidata
- Photo or photos added to the relevant article on the English Wikipedia (in my experience, other languages will soon follow; I think it's creating the category and adding the portrait to Wikidata that triggers this)
How's that? Schwede66 20:33, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
- Fine by me Schwede. A bit involved and that's why I steer clear of pursuing contemporary images ! But all good. -Sticks66 (talk) 02:35, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
