File:Shiva on the bull Nandi, destroying demons..jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Duplicating same files
Hi, Thank you for uploading many artworks. But Instead of updating existing ones, you are uploading many existing files as new ones. I think it is better to update files, if you've a better version. Otherwise it is just simply duplicating. Thank you.--Praveen:talk 03:54, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
"Vulgar" photos
Please stop nominating images because you find them "vulgar". Commons is not censored, and we will not delete things just because you don't like them. If you continue to do this, it will be classed as vandalism. -mattbuck (Talk) 11:41, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

Commons:Deletion requests/File:Bikini Model Jassi.jpg was particularly pointless and semi-stupidly unproductive, and your English skills do not appear to allow you to engage in extended articulate debate, so this is not a useful area for you. AnonMoos (talk) 15:48, 27 February 2012 (UTC)

This warning is not only about those six pages which you reaplaced with "'''''''''" [1] but also about the case of "vulgar content" (Commons:Deletion requests/File:Strip auf Peugeot two girls.JPG, Commons:Deletion requests/File:Serie Sexy.jpg, ...) as the only reason for a deletion request. You were warned before. --Saibo (Δ) 01:19, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Retirement
I noticed that you just placed the {{Retired}} template on your user page again. This is the seventh time you have supposedly "retired" from Commons (under this user name). Your longest "retirement" lasted less than four days, and the latest one lasted less than eight hours.
The {{Retired}} template is intended to signal that you have permanently left the project. Therefore, the template will give others the impression that you will be unlikely to read or respond to messages left on your user talk page. Using the template when you are not intending to stay away permanently is a bad idea both because it could be seen as attempting to discourage communication and because it may cause you to miss out on notices of important discussions regarding your uploads and other activities.
Please consider using {{Wikibreak}}, {{Busy}}, {{User inactive}} for short breaks instead (but even for a break as short as four days, no such template is needed). —LX (talk, contribs) 18:10, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Replacing an image with a less good image
You have replaced Den Leichnam des Darius with an image that is both smaller and also cropped at the top. Instead of replacing the original image, the appropriate thing to do is to leave the original in place and upload your new image under its own name, so that both are available at Wikimedia Commons. Possible names for the new image might be File:Den Leichnam des Darius (Rode).jpg or File:Den Leichname des Darius - British Museum.jpg. Of course these are simply suggestions. I will now revert to the original image and leave it to you to upload your new file. --Jdsteakley (talk) 14:39, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Image replacement
Please do not replace an image with a version which is not exact copy of the image. Instead, upload as a new file. I have reverted your upload at File:Raja Ravi Varma, Jatayu vadha, 1906.jpg. The original version was a painting by Ravi Varma and the version uploaded by you is a lithograph by Ravi Varma, depicting the same scene.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 15:31, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

PD-art
I saw you have nominated a huge number of files uploaded by you. Many of them are valid under PD-art. Please go through Commons:When to use the PD-Art tag. You can upload "Photograph of an Old Master found on the Internet" if it is a "a faithful reproduction of a 2D public domain work of art." --Redtigerxyz (talk) 18:16, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- If a painting qualifies for PD status, it is copyright free. Just because a website owner puts digital images of old paintings on his web site, the copyright does not magically become his. And in the case of "reproductions", if someone paints an exact duplicate of a PD piece of art, his reproduction does not qualify for copyright protection. Only if it is creatively and significantly different from the original may he claim copyright, so being a "faithful reproduction" automatically disqualifies a work from its own copyright protection. – JBarta (talk) 18:53, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- That said, it would be VERY useful to note clearly on the image description page if the image is from a reproduction or the original painting. – JBarta (talk) 18:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Stop marking these PD images as copyrighted. You are just spamming now and it's really annoying. 67.82.42.67 20:31, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- You know, the word "spam" is way overused and often used incorrectly. To spam means to send the same message to large numbers of different people or groups. When you get an email offering to make certain of your body parts larger (or smaller)... that's spam. What Sridhar1000 is doing can be labeled "disruptive". It's possible he means well, in which case he's being disruptive out of ignorance and without really meaning to, or maybe he's doing it maliciously, in which case he's just plain being disruptive. Either way, he's not "spamming". Sorry, the rampant misuse of the word spam is one of my pet peeves. I'll sit down and shut up now. – JBarta (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Engraving1850s.jpg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Engraving1850s.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File tagging File:Brig.Hari Singh at Barkee Capture.jpg
This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Brig.Hari Singh at Barkee Capture.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Brig.Hari Singh at Barkee Capture.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Thanks for uploading File:Indian soldiers fighting in 1947 war.jpg.
Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

File:Indian soldiers fighting in 1947 war.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation.
