Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
  • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

Please stop edit warring; dashed line on the Crimean border → the border is disputed and not 100% Ukraine. It's disputed.; – Andorra (Andorra can make it → sponsor) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kematen (talk • contribs) 17:35, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi So Hood! Seeing Kematen's message, you are invited to join the discussion now open at Commons talk:WikiProject Eurovision#Border of Crimea on Eurovision maps, which the user is ignoring. IvanScrooge98 (talk) 17:39, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2020 Olympics

[edit]

Would you mind if you can update File:Countries by medals 2020 Summer Olympics.svg, File:Countries by bronze medals 2020 Summer Olympics.svg, File:Countries by silver medals 2020 Summer Olympics.svg and File:Countries by gold medals 2020 Summer Olympics.svg? Thanks. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 20:23, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I don't think these maps have to be updated regularly, it should be enough to finish them once the Olympic games are finished. Unlike the main map, the others don't have to be contemporaneously updated. Thanks for uploading File:2024 Summer Olympics medal map.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

2024 Olympic map

[edit]

Hello So Hood, thanks for your map 2024SummerOlympicsmedalmap.svg, but could you change the red color of non-participating states to basic? This flashy color is very distracting, the map should primarily show the level of medals and not draw attention to states that have little to do with the Games. For example like in this this map. There's also a description missing, but I can fill that in for you. Thanks for your reply.Jirka.h23 (talk) 11:35, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I used the colors which were used in the maps of the recent Summer Olympic events, thus I thought the red color was the common one. Might only seem flashy this time because Russian territory is so large. But of course I'm open to changes, if we change the color here, we would have to change it on the formerly used maps, too. Thank you for the suggestion. So Hood (talk) 12:10, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
For example here or here, countries with zero are marked grey, don't you think it looks much better? It's quite distracting from the medal states.Jirka.h23 (talk) 12:30, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2024 Olympic map correction

[edit]

Hello So Hood,

On your Olympic medals map for 2024, Greenland is currently colored red. Greenland competes in the Olympics as part of Denmark and should be the same color. Could you please correct this? Alternatively, could you please make editing of the map available to all users? Thank you. Tad Lincoln (talk) 21:23, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thank you for the improvement tip. I already included Greenland in Denmark. Please let me know how I could make editing available for all users. I had to put a copywright watermark but also shared the usage for everybody so I thought everybody would be able to download it and upload a newer version. But of course vandalism should be prevented..So Hood (talk) 12:10, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
