Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). Hi Slaterd4479,
as Daniel Dorall is probably not dead since >70 years, his works are still copyrighted. Thereby, photos of his works are derivatives and violate the copyright of the original artist. This holds true even if you own these works. If you want your photos stay on Commons, you need a written permission of the artist himself. --Túrelio (talk) 11:37, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Gsansom.jpeg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

permissions
[edit]Hello Slaterd4479, I am sorry, but you have not acted and we have to claridy this now. Turelio already told you at #File:Dorall_Death_2006.jpg and with an explanation here what needs to be done. For the works you fully created on your own (artwork and photo) please send an email by yourself. For the other artists works: we need the written permission (email) from them. For a guide what to do and addresses see COM:OTRS. If you have questions I am happy to help. Just answer below - I will see it. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 02:06, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Hey Saibo, thanks for the reminder. Can i send the permissions in one email or should i send them separately? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Slaterd4479 (talk • contribs) 2011-04-04T03:03:09 (UTC)
- Hi again Slaterd4479, thanks for your reply. Best separate the emails by author. So: one email for your works, one email for works of person xyz and one email for works of person abc. The emails for the other person's works should genereally be sent by the authors themselves. ALso it is the fastest way to use this template to avoid the need for several emails (questions/answers). Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 13:56, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
