Why delete
[edit]These are our images please don't delete them! Siouxchief (talk) 13:20, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Siouxchief. What do you mean "these are our images"?
- When you say "our", what do you mean? Who is the "we" there? If you represent an organisation (and are using Wikipedia and Wikimedia to store, host or publish images and other content on behalf of that organisation), then you will please want to read the Wikimedia project's broader conflict of interest policies or those which are specifically relevant to the English language Wikipedia project.
- When you say "our images", what do you mean? I personally do not understand how you can claim that the component images used within many of your uploads (the Twitter bird motif logo [a copyrighted image], this commercial stick photograph and other component images in the stuff you have uploaded) are yours to release to the world under a Commons licence. Your organisation may have licenced that Shutterstock image for use in posters, but that licence is unlikely to extend to you making that image free to use by everyone forever. And, if you are making such a claim, then I'd imagine the rights holder would have something to say about that. Otherwise, how is the Twitter logo "yours"?
- In short, I wonder if you need to familiarise yourself with the Wikimedia and Wikipedia guidelines. About copyright, content and editing policies. Before continuing on your editing and contributing journey. Guliolopez (talk) 15:28, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
Apologies my phone autocorrected I intended to say they are only images so I didn't understand the removal but after reading up on copyright etc I understand the problem now so sorry for wasting time on this. I'm a newbie to this but thought I would give it a go as the group seem interesting to me as I study politics in Ireland. Will try harder next time and I'll read the rules. Thanks
