Image deletion warning | Image:Ornidazole.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. |

Image:Enrofloxacin2.svg
[edit]Hi Selkat, I have noticed a chemical structure image of yours has an error. I have marked Image:Enrofloxacin2.svg with Disputed chem because it is missing a ketone group. For comparison, another image Image:Enrofloxacin.svg appears to be correct. If you want to fix it, just go ahead and remove the tag. Thanks. Edgar181 (talk) 16:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up; you are indeed correct. Does Commons have a db-self? Also, what's up with the Pd-ineligible tags on chem structures? The structure itself may be ineligible but a graphical representation can be copyrighted. The creators of these images have not technically released their copyrights in them. Worse, it encourages the uploading of images copied from somewhere else. Your thoughts on this? --Selket (talk) 00:46, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- You can use Speedydelete to ask that a file you uploaded be deleted. As for Pd-ineligible and chemical structure drawings, there has been discussion about this before on the chemistry wikiprojects on the English Wikipedia. The general feeling seems to be that depictions of simple chemical structures are not copyrightable, but that more complex ones probably require enough skill/creativity to be copyrightable. But there isn't any kind of consensus either on the English Wikipedia or here on Commons about where to draw the line, as far as I know. At one point, there was an effort on Commons to tag them all with PD-chem, but that ended up at Commons:Deletion requests/Template:PD-chem (which apparently hasn't yet been closed/resolved). So essentially, there isn't a policy one way or another. Some chemists mark their chemical structure images as PD-ineligible, others mark them PD-self. My preference is PD-self because it removes any ambiguity about whether the image is in the public domain or not. Edgar181 (talk) 11:37, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
File:Schmitt trigger symbol.svg
[edit]Selket -- you authored the Schmitt trigger symbol.svg:
that is linked from w:Schmitt trigger. This symbol shows a non-inverting Schmitt trigger, but inverting Schmitt triggers are very common as well. If you have time, could you create a version of this image showing the symbol for an inverting Schmitt trigger? That would just involve top–bottom mirroring the hysteresis symbol. Thanks! —TedPavlic (talk) 17:07, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- Nevermind. I hand-edited the SVG in a text editor and go the desired effect. I'll upload the result shortly. Thanks! —TedPavlic (talk) 17:12, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Neuron drawing
[edit]Dear Selket, I have a bit of a problem with your drawing of the Neuron. It is not really the picture, but the labels attached to the figure. It is not even all of those, but one particular one.
The problem is the Schwann cell. Although you say that the drawing only represents a typical neuron cell your figure is used on more than one Wikipedia in conjunction with the Brain article and its homologues, and that article tells us that the Schwann cell only looks after the myelin production/ maintenance of the peripheric nervous system, and the glia cells of the central nervous system are oligodendrocites. I would alter this in the article I am writing now, on the Hungarian WP, but all I can get to is the unlabelled drawing. How do you attach the labels to that? I would also like confirmation from you, as it appears that you have access to expert information, that the oligodendrocites' position is exactly that of the Schwann-cells, and that their relative sizes and shapes can be taken to be about identical, and therefore the same drawing would suffice. Many thanks. Regards, 92.133.166.158 23:07, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 01:28, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Middle-ear image
[edit]Your image 'Middle_ear.png' shows the tensor tympani incorrectly. It should be attached high on the medial aspect of the manubrium of the malleus. I have a drawing at http://audilab.bmed.mcgill.ca/~funnell/AudiLab/teach/me_saf/me_saf003.html that shows a medial view of the middle ear with the two muscles. I also have a 3-D model that you can view at http://audilab.bmed.mcgill.ca/~funnell/davis3d/ .

The factual accuracy of the chemical structure Image:Ioxilan.png is disputed
[edit]Dispute notification | The chemical structure Image:Ioxilan.png you uploaded has been tagged as disputed and is now listed in Category:Disputed chemical diagrams. Images in this category are deleted after one month if there is no upload of a corrected version and if there is no objection from the uploader or other users. Please discuss on the image talk page if you feel that the dispute is inappropriate. If you agree with the dispute, you can either upload a corrected version or simply allow the image to be deleted.
In all cases, please do not take the dispute personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! --Edgar181 (talk) 17:04, 24 June 2010 (UTC) |
File tagging File:Gastini 0700.JPG
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Gastini 0700.JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Gastini 0700.JPG ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Notification
[edit]Hello, there is a de-flag proposal at Commons:Bots/Requests/de-flag which affects your bot. Regards --Steinsplitter (talk) 22:27, 29 July 2013 (UTC)
Bot de-flagging notification
[edit]Hi Selket, I'm writing to you because your bot SelketBot (talk · contributions · Statistics · Recent activity · block log · User rights log · uploads · Global account information) is about to be de-flagged as a result of inactivity. If you'd like to keep that account flagged as a bot, please speak up at Commons:Bots/Requests/de-flag#Discussion; otherwise, I'll remove the bot flag from that account in a week from now (20 February 2014). Thanks for your understanding, odder (talk) 22:31, 13 February 2014 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called SelketBot. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name SelketBot~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
