First steps tutorial

Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
  • You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
  • You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
  • There are several tools to upload files.
  • Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.
Made a mistake?
  • Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
  • Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

您好，由於Special:ListFiles/Sean Chiu沒有區分，考量到未來您可能會上傳很多，為了便於別人瀏覽、找尋及編輯，我已為您創建：

  • Category:Photographs by Sean Chiu：Photograph是照片的意思，因此這是您的相簿，用於存放您自己拍攝的照片。每當上傳時就添加「Photographs by Sean Chiu」就可以了。
  • Category:Files uploaded by Sean Chiu：這可以存放您上傳過的圖片，無論是別人拍攝的照片，或是您製作SVG繪圖檔，只要是您上傳的都能放在這裡。每當上傳時就添加「Files uploaded by Sean Chiu」就可以了。
提醒，兩者不能同時添加，否則會發生「過度分類」現象，你可以閱讀COM:OVERCAT這個說明。
此外，Wikimedia Commons是一次一頁最多能瀏覽200張，瀏覽方式是網格陳列（橫向6張，直向34張），不同於Special:ListFiles/Sean Chiu陳列方式，瀏覽、找尋都比較方便，而且比較好整理，因為您可以再細分出「子類別」，比如Category:Photographs by Sean Chiu可以按年份、按建築物分類。

關於「上傳此檔案的新版本」

我注意到閣下近來將「File:紅毛港飛鳳宮.jpg」等照片換成了新的照片，但是不同時間拍的照片，建議是另外上傳成一個新的檔案，而非直接覆蓋。因為這並不是上傳原照片的新版本（經過修改角度、裁切等等編輯），而是用一個完全不同的檔案去取代。這樣做會造成一些依照年代去分的分類出錯（以File:紅毛港飛鳳宮.jpg為例，原照片是2018年的照片卻被換成2021年的照片）。建議閣下將這些照片還原成舊版本，在另外上傳新的照片。 祥龍 (talk) 16:38, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

不同時間拍攝的照片有不同的意義，例如File:右昌元帥府.jpg在2018年時的照片可以看到廟埕有畫網狀線，2023年時沒有。如果有人要在條目中呈現不同時間點的變化的話，因為閣下把兩個不同時間點的照片用在同一個檔名空間，所以就無法同時使用兩張照片。--祥龍 (talk) 16:46, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
