Welcome and thank you

[edit]

First of all, thank you for uploading the works of your organisation, as a Vietnamese monarchist I welcome such content with great joy. But as it appears that you (or y'all) are operating from an account that appears to represent an organisation it might be best to send an e-mail to the Wikimedia Commons OTRS team to confirm that this account belongs to the organisation, that will prevent the future deletion of the files. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 19:44, 8 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why are photos of the Royal Decree removed again? Royal Vietnam (talk) 12:18, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Royal Vietnam: , they likely aren't going to be removed, but I have been on Wikimedia Commons long enough to know that things uploaded by organisations (such as y'all's) can be removed if the uploading account isn't verified through e-mails, this is a protection to prevent potential imitators. I hope that you will upload more decrees and perhaps the logo of Royal Vietnam. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 18:52, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your username seems to indicate that it represents an organisation

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you for your contributions.

It has come to my attention that the name of the account from which you are editing from an account suggests that it might belong to an organisation. While Wikimedia Commons permits organisational accounts are permitted, such accounts have to be confirmed to be legitimately associated with the organisation in question. This is to prevent fraudulent impersonations of organisations. You can confirm the legitimacy of this account through the OTRS by sending an e-mail to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org". The email must come from an account associated with the organization in question. Editing without doing so may result in a precautionary cessation of editing privileges and the deletion of uploaded works as we cannot be sure if this account truly represents Royal Vietnam and these measures are done to protect Royal Vietnam from possible imposters.

(By the way, the English-language Wikipedia doesn't allow organisational accounts, so please don't use this account when editing there, including placing an image on an article page! Wikipedias in other languages have a variety of policies, please check the policies for any Wikipedias that are relevant for you.)

As you may be eager to "donate your works to Wikipedia" you must be able to confirm that either your organisation possesses the copyright to the works you wish to upload to Wikimedia Commons or that they are in the public domain.

  • Copyrights of works commissioned by your organisation from an independent contractor typically are not be owned by your organisation unless there has been an explicit transfer of rights. Depending on terms of employment, this may also be true of some work by your employees. These rules differ per country and territory. Remember, only the owner of the copyright can grant a license. If the copyright-holder has indicated a license on line, please indicate the relevant URL when uploading the photo (or edit the file page after uploading to indicate it). If there is no such online indication, then that copyright-holder may have to go through OTRS to clarify that it is, indeed, their intent to grant such a license.

Notice: Works uploaded to Wikimedia Commons may be used by anyone for any reason however they want (subject to restrictions about personality rights, trademarks, etc.). So if you have any commercial interest in your works be aware that once uploaded to this website you irrevocably allow anyone else to use your copyrighted works for-profit. You can set up your own terms for attribution by re-users, for example they must link to your website, your webshop, name your organisation, etc. but re-users can do whatever they want with these works as long as they follow these licensing terms.

Also feel free to ask a question on my Talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! You are also free to ask a question at the help desk or village pump, you could otherwise add {{Helpme}} on your talk page to ask for help here, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments by ending them with four tildes (~~~~).

Vietnamese monarchists, are there many?

[edit]
I put this on my Vietnamese passport, kind of how Taiwanese independence advocates use similar covers if they dislike the Republic of China 🇹🇼. I think that I'm one of the last of a dying breed of Nguyễn Dynasty loyalists, at least I hope I ain't.

You (or y'all) are probably the first Monarchist Vietnamese organisation I have seen contributing to Wikimedia Commons and honestly I hope that you will be uploading more content from your organisation here in the future. As a Vietnamese Monarchist 👑 I was actually aware of a number of France-based and United States-based organisations seeking to restore the Nguyễn Dynasty but most seem to have disappeared from the internet in the last decade or so. Does your organisation have any contact with these (or others) and do you think that you could convince them to also donate to Wikimedia Commons?

Images of personal daily items of the imperial family and documents related to the imperial dynasty might be of special interest due to their historical value. You have uploaded perhaps one of the last sightings of the Hoàng Đế chi bảo seal. People have been looking for that thing for decades. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 12:11, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to repost the official decree and cannot seem to do so. Do you have any tips? The direct line of Emperor Gia Long through Nguyen Phuc Canh remains strong. Royal Vietnam (talk) 12:33, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you uploaded it here right? You can upload more decrees, I created "Category:Royal Vietnam" specifically for more documents and decrees from your organisation. I believe that the Japanese made a huge mistake not installing Cường Để (彊㭽), he fought for Vietnamese national interests for decades. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 12:45, 22 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
