User talk:RillkeBot
Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content). You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump. |

Your file mover right has been removed
[edit]
If I misunderstood something, feel free to contact me. Otherwise you may request this right again at Commons:Requests for rights explaining how you will use it in future.
File renaming is problematic because it breaks links, image inclusions on external websites and even temporarily on the Wikimedia Server cluster. It also adds a lot of workload to the servers because its technical implementation is sub-optimal. That's why we have such a strict policy.
Besides the technical issues, lots of different people have different options about how a file should be named.Rillke(q?) 10:23, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Is this really a BOT
[edit]When I try to hide BOT actions yours do not get hidden. Why? Secondarywaltz (talk) 22:48, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
- Because it is not flagged as such, yet. Please confer to the discussion at the front page. I don't like requesting permission for generic tasks at our bot-approval page but instead would prefer if the overall speed with which those bot-requests are handled would grow.
- As for the code it is currently running; this is a JavaScript which runs mainly unattended. A link to it is also availble in the discussion. -- Rillke(q?) 23:06, 1 August 2013 (UTC)
- What? Are you human? I have no idea what the relevance is of what you just said above. It's all geek to me! Secondarywaltz (talk) 03:59, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
- Of couse I am human or is there anything on my user page that would suggest that I am not?
- Terms used: Front page, JavaScript, Open source.
- To make it short and easy: This account waits for a special user who is able to mark it is a bot. After this is done, I/the program that runs behind this account can flag the edits made under this account as bot-edits. But this is not yet possible. That's why you cannot hide them. -- Rillke(q?) 09:11, 2 August 2013 (UTC)
