Universal log-in?
[edit]{{helpme}} I have been attempting to log on at the English Wikipedia for MONTHS. I'm not sure what the problem is, but on a hunch, I requested password assistance on Commons, and GOT IT! Halleluiah! I rec'd an email link, changed my password, and I sincerely thank whichever person or bot or software widget helped me.
In the past, I was registered under a Universal Login, I think it was called: at first I was automatically logged in to 13 projects, and, as time went on, I noticed the number increased. I rarely logged in at another project, but if I visited, usually via hyperlink, I would sometimes notice that I was already logged in/on(?). I have just visited enWP, however, and I am NOT logged on there, and if I attempt to log on , I get a message that I'm using an incorrect password. I realize no one here at commons has any admin power at enWP. Is there a way I can once again register a universal password? Even if I have to sign in again each time I change projects, at least I wouldn't have dozens of passwords to keep straight. I don't know if this WP template works here at Commons, but it's worth a try.
- The only thing I can come up with is that sometimes you will go to a secure login and sometimes unsecure. I've had that happen to me following links - maybe that helps. --Herby talk thyme 16:42, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Info about your universal accounts: sulutil:Ragityman. Looks good. If you enable cookies (also from third parties) in your browser you should be logged in all Wikipedia/Wikimedia projects after you have logged in somewhere. Could you please mention a process which leads to an error / problems in more details and with URLs? --Saibo (Δ) 16:01, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
