Pay attention to copyright
File:AMB dime.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with {{subst:OP}} and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please note: The above matter has been resolved. It was investigated by the deleting editor, and the file was restored on the grounds that it is of far higher resolution than the website from which it was alleged to have been taken. See discussion here. An OTRS ticket has also been issued to support its validity. Nick Moyes (talk) 19:49, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick Moyes and @Jimfbleak; Thank you guys for your patience and help. I've uploaded a more higher resolution of this image that we received on the VRTS. Best, ─ The Aafī (talk) 06:10, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looking around I came across the account RDLittle from where a similar image was uploaded. This is possibly an alternate account of Professor Little. ─ The Aafī (talk) 06:18, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAafi Well spotted. This will either be a 'first attempt' to create an account by @RDLittle2000, or it will be one of the professor's students who was invited to help create an article on 'armored mud balls' - which I've been trying to sort out with one or more users at the Teahouse and on my en-wiki talk page. Were I an admin here, I'd be happy to delete the other image and block the account to avoid confusion or misrepresentation. Nick Moyes (talk) 09:11, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. Pinging @Turelio for any possible action. ─ The Aafī (talk) 10:05, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello to Nick and other helpers. My student, Cirdan Kearns, is taking over this project and has been in contact about some issues, such as the copyright. I have listed "public use" on the www.armoredmudballs.rocks website. Since Cirdan Kearns will now author this article, please remove my name and other information since that seems to be a source of confusion. THANK YOU....your help is very much appreciated. Richard Little 24.151.142.194 12:53, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Nick Moyes do you have anything to say on this post from IP? ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:40, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAafi Yes, I do. Most importantly, this is all being done in good faith, if somewhat clumsily. And I do want to help out here. IP editor please sign in before you edit so we know we're always talking to the same user each time.
Secondly: Thank you to the Prof for putting a CC0 Creative Commons licence on your personal website. We can now be confident we can use the imagery, if not their draft text.
Thirdly: I don't want to see someone posting a potential Wikipedia article on any personal website for us to use: we won't. We don't accept personal websites at all (to avoid lots of problems from non-academic people - but the rule applies to all). However, I will gladly link to it as an External Link. Instead, all content should be cited to one of many specific publications on this topic, or to other published literature. I have made a copy of the draft from the Prof's website, but I suggest deleting it once his student has made a copy, too.
I have explained my ideas to 'Conglomerate Joe' as to how those wanting to see this article created should approach things. See HERE), and I am happy to support them adding properly-cited content from scholarly articles at a new draft I've started at en:Draft:Armored mud ball.
Fourthly: Just for tidiness, it might be wise if @Túrelio puts a block on the other account (User:RDLittle simply to reduce confusion from this one as it's not needed.
Finally, I am not in any way suggesting that the Prof's personal website at https://armoredmudballs.rocks/ is in any way flawed, or not academic. It's simply that we don't use personal websites when other sources exist. We should work from those, with some on or off-wiki input from Prof Little if he wishes. Personally, I would welcome it, or that of his student, provided our rules and policies are followed. That's where I can offer guidance. I suggest continuing all discussions at English Wikipedia (not here). My own talk page or the talk page of the draft at en:Draft talk:Armored mud ball would be best.
Thanks Nick Moyes (talk) 19:12, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Prof: I've just checked, and you still have a Copyright @2022 All Rights Reserved notice on the bottom of your website. I think you should remove that if you want the CC0 notice to have any real worth. Cheers, Nick Moyes (talk) 19:39, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you to all.....I have removed the copyright notice from the end page footer. I have also removed the reference to "Wikipedia Submission...." and retitled that part of the armoredmudballs.rocks web site.
as a "Technical Report"
I will copy the above comments to my student, Cirdan Kearns.
Again, my thanks for getting this right....and my best wishes to Cirdan for proceeding to successful completion. Richard Little 24.151.142.194 04:49, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
