Image Tagging Image:20080509_ULURU.JPG
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:20080509_ULURU.JPG. This image is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or send an email with copy of a written permission to OTRS (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org).
Unless the permission information is given, the image may be speedy deleted after seven days. Thank you. Yuval Y § Chat § 18:42, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi! I noticed you have uploaded one file under the same name some times. Please notice it is not necessary to upload the same file multiple times. It won't change the description! If you want to change the Image's description, please click at the file and then at the [Edit] button above. Yuval Y § Chat § 17:39, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Greetings Bob. Regarding the above image, it is requested that you upload (overwrite the current image) a version of the image without decorative borders or watermarking. While it is preferable for the original author to provide such a copy, given that this image has been licensed as CC/GFDL, any other user may perform the requested cropping. If the license information mentioned above is provided and the image is not deleted (which I hope it is not...its a nice image!), I can do this work myself if you decide not to. Just a heads-up. Cheers! -- Huntster T • @ • C 23:26, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
From "Permissions - Wikimedia Commons <permissions-commons@wikimedia.org>" I have received the following mail [edited for readability];
"The domain xs4all.nl seems to be a free provider of emails among other things. As such, I cannot be confident that you are who you say you are. <snip> Alternatively, you could send along a version with informative EXIF data. Thanks for your understanding. Yours sincerely, Mike I***"
Now, TRUST is good thing, but if this suspicious approach stems from the recent Jimbo Wales controversies, I'm not pleased this approach is directed upon a n00b like me with the best intentions. I'm the kind of photographer that doesn't do these new-fangled EXIF-data-thingies, as I'm still working with regular B/W films and slides on larger format cameras.
Mike I*** is clearly wrong in assuming that XS4ALL is handing out free addresses. It is the Nr. 1 ISP in the country where my current dungeon resides, and it has it roots in the old tinker-box scene of early hacker culture. It is the ISP that sets the standards on how-to-be-a-reliable-netizen.
All in all, these requests appear to be taking too much time - which is a scare source for me at this moment - and therefor I've decided to withdraw this image, and the K2 and Kashmir- and Tibet-panorama's that I had planned putting in the public domain. Sorry guys, but most likely it's Buckleys chance you'll be enjoying these 1-Giga-pixel beauties in the near future.
As I don't seem to be able to detect a 'delete-now' button [or Bon Echo is holding something back] I am forced to overwrite these originals with useless 10x19pix blots.
Huntster; many thanks for the compliments. If you mail me directly I'll be sending you a B/W K2 panorama that has won me quite a number of prizes.
Greetings and tada, Bob
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:54, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion
[edit]Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.
If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
