Please categorise images
[edit]Hi! Nice work with the locator maps for the EU countries. Please remember to place your uploads in a suitable category, such as Category:Locator maps for EU countries. I've done this for your existing uploads. —LX (talk, contribs) 10:59, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
- Indeed, the maps look good. One content remark; the map of Spain lacks the wikipedia:Canary islands. Second, the map issue has been contested fiercely on wikipedia:Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Countries; your new maps may raise response from editors in favour of the orange maps. Do you have SVG versions available of those maps? If you used a vector illustrator program to create them, it can probably export to SVG. SVG is preferred by Wikipedia because it can be scaled smoothly and easily edited. If you have SVG versions of these maps and they render properly, please upload them. - Thanks for your note. Yes: I can easily create SVG or other versions of these maps. This is a somewhat contentious topic at the English country wikiproject, so I do not want to create maps that may be superseded (by me or someone else) or may not be used. After all, they are time-consuming to make -- give me a day or two. Any additional feedback is appreciated. Quizimodo 03:07, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
In fact the correct category is Category:Locator maps of countries of the European Union. I added Image:Location Finland EU Europe.png to the cat, but there may be still some missing. -- Petri Krohn 15:59, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Map accuracy
[edit]Compare the shape of Wales in Image:Location UK EU Europe.png with Image:Europe location WAL.png - someone's stolen Holyhead! 80.44.98.252 00:27, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing this out -- this has since been fixed. Quizimodo 04:13, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
A map request
[edit]Helllo! I would like to request you a favor - could you please make a such style map for Lithuania? M.K. 19:35, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for the response. Please, take your time. Cheers, M.K. 09:50, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Fine maps
[edit]You have made fine locator maps for the memberstates of EU. It would be nice to see those kind of maps all the EU members. --Kyzyl 08:55, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Map request
[edit]You are the Author of the "Location * EU Europe.png" series however I cant seem to find one for San Marino, I understand that San Marino is not part of the EU however to keep with the theme for Euro gold and silver commemorative coins It would benefit greatly to have such a map. I much appreciate the work you have done and hope you can fulfill this request. Cheers!192.122.223.53 00:26, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Map projection
[edit]Hi, what map projection have you been using when creating e.g. File:Location_Spain_EU_Europe_1.svg? Thanks! -- Tilusnet (talk) 15:42, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
File:Polynesia.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Location Spain EU Europe 1.svg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Location Spain EU Europe 1.svg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Quizimodo. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Quizimodo~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
