The Qos-e-Azar artwork represents a figure combining a human body and lion legs, which is a hunter aiming an arrow at its own dragon tail. This symbolizes the eternal struggle between Good and Evil. Qos-e-Azar, which refers to the arch of the 9th month in the Persian calendar (22 November - 21 December), bears a resemblance to the Sagittarius symbol in the zodiac. It has also been interpreted as a representation of climate change in Isfahan throughout the year. Isfahan experiences a division between the hot, dry season from May to October and the cool, wet season from November to April. The conclusion of the hot, dry season, characterized by droughts, coincides with the Sagittarius period in November and December, symbolizing the triumph of the archer over the dragon Ref. A splendid mosaic artwork featuring two symmetrical elements of this symbol adorns the top of the Qeysarie bazaar gate, a renowned traditional trading center in Isfahan, Iran. The gate was constructed during the Safavid era (1501-1736 AD).
