Please link images

Hello Progresschrome~commonswiki!
Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.
To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.
You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!
Thank you. EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:46, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Progresschrome,
Please have a look at the image talk for this image which is stated to be a Saxifraga oppositifolia. It does not like like a Saxifrage to me. I am not that familiar with the Icelandic flora, but assuming it has some similarities with the Flora of Greenland my best guess is that the plant is a Silene acaulis. -- Slaunger (talk) 21:25, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- This opinion is perfectly right. There is no similar species in Iceland. I changed the category to Category:Silene acaulis. Robert Flogaus-Faust (talk) 17:44, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
File:Iceland2008-Akureyri.church.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:19, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

latrabjarg locations
[edit]Hello, Could you provide us with more details about the location of this image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Iceland2008-233-Latrabjarg.JPG? To me it looks like Hnjotur, rather than latrabjarg.
Similarly, where is this image? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Iceland2008-Latrabjarg.birds.JPG It surely doesn't look like Latrabjarg. Debivort (talk) 15:23, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Progresschrome. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Progresschrome~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Probable copyvio by an Icelandic business
[edit]Hi Progresschrome,
it seems your - great - photo File:Iceland2009-BradWeber-Kerid.jpg is used without due attribution and mentioning of the license at http://taxipickup.is/iceland-tours/. I've been notifying them about a copyvio of my own picture in polite mails since 2015 but they never fixed anything, though they promised to do so. It seems they're doing more copyvios, which I'm investigating at User:Dealerofsalvation/taxipickup.is Copyvios.
Do whatever you think reasonable - leave it be, write them a mail, send them an invoice, and if you're interrested in hiring a Lawyer, please tell me as I will be investigating in doing so too and we might do so jointly.
Best regards --dealerofsalvation 19:57, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
