Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Don't give up on importing

I understand that your experience importing from Flickr wasn't a positive one and although I do greatly want you to feel encouraged to create your own works and upload them with a free license for all, but by importing works from other websites such as Flickr you could save these works from an unforseen deletion and if they're stored here future writers at a Wikipedia or any other place for that matter could integrate them into a work to illustrate and improve it. @Alexis Jazz: @Donald Trung: Thank you both for the encouragement. The Flickr2Commons tool was frustrating to use too, as it didn't give a warning that the pics i was trying to opload had the wrong license and flickr doesn't seem to allow to filter on just the right kind of creative commons license. Still got an image uploaded in the end (~10th try). I'll try to make the dish myself soon for hopefully a better photo.PizzaMan (talk) 00:20, 15 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Eigen foto's

Het beste van u kan doen is als u dus een Omate TrueSmart polshorloge bezit is er om er zelf een paar foto's van te maken, zij hoeven niet goed te zijn (maar als u toevallig wèl ergens een goede camera hebt liggen in huis is dat mooi meegenomen ). Als voorbeeld kan ik u de foto "File:Yuntab Smartwatch (2018) 02.jpg" ~~laten~~ hier rechts laten zien, ik zou u wel het advies geven om de apparaat eerst uit te doen indien er afbeeldingen op het scherm staan die meer dan alleen maar geometrisch niet-complexe vormen zijn wat weer een aparte auteursrecht heeft. Er is ook een auteursrecht-gerelateerde dorpspomp waar u vragen aan de gemeenschap kunt stellen indien er iets niet duidelijk is, ik hoop dat het artikel "w:en:Omate TrueSmart" niet straks zonder visuele illustraties komt te staan. --Donald Trung 『徵國單』 (No Fake News 💬) (WikiProject Numismatics 💴) (Articles 📚) 12:05, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Bijna maar niet helemaal...

Ik vindt het mooi dat u "File:OmateTrueSmart.jpg" naar Wikimedia Commons hebt geüpdatet, maar het laat wel de icoontjes van een aantal applicaties zien (zie hiervoor de pagina's "Commons:Derivative works" en "Commons:De minimis"), in de afbeelding hierboven kunt u zien dat de smartwatch die ik heb gefotografeerd uit staat en dit is met opzet, als er alleen maar simplistische logo's en/of icoontjes op staan valt dit niet onder de "Commons:Threshold of originality" maar ik weet niet of ik hetzelfde van uw foto kan zeggen, als advies zou ik u zeggen om gewoon "een fotoshoot" van uw Omate TrueSmart te houden en dan alleen hem aan zetten als je bijvoorbeeld een Wikipedia pagina daarmee laat of alleen maar simpele woorden of geometrische vormen op de polshorloge staat. Kwestie van voorkeur. Voor de infobox foto is een afbeelding van alleen het horloge beter vind ik. Een secundaire foto die laat zien hoe je het gebruikt zou wel mooi zijn. (kan je hand ook meteen op de foto!) Wel opletten met wat er op het scherm te zien is dan. - Alexis Jazz ^{ping plz} 20:44, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
