Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Categorias

Olá. Em relação as categorias, há um robô (script) que percorre as imagens e arquivos não categorizados e envia mensagens automáticas aos usuários avisando quais imagens, carregadas por eles, que estão sem categoria. Você provavelmente tem em suas preferência, alguma das seguintes opções ativadas:

  • "Notificar-me por correio electrónico quando uma página vigiada é alterada"
  • "Notificar-me por correio electrónico quando a minha página de discussão é editada"

e, por isso recebeu aquela mensagem de e-mail. Se desejar, pode desativá-las.

Sobre a imagem do Cern, eu desejaria muito que ela fosse mantida (cheguei até mesmo baixar a imagem original em maior resolução, com a intenção de carregá-la no Commons). Mas a atual política de copyright/direito autoral do Cern não parece compatível com a licença Creative Commons devido à proibição do uso comercial e de distribuição das imagens. Por isso abri a votação, para que outras pessoas possam comentar se cometi algum equívoco ou se há algum modo de manter a imagem dentro das políticas do Commons.

Eu peço desculpas pelo transtorno. Peço desculpas também se a forma de tratamento que utilizo na mensagem acima (por vezes, o que é formal de um lado do Atlântico pode parecer informal no outro, e vice-versa...). Abraços. Giro720 (talk) 11:30, 24 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Se de fato não há a possibilidade de se conseguir uma imagem livre, então talvez seja possível carregar na Wikipédia, como uma "imagem de uso restrito" (apenas educativo). Do contrário, é possível que solicitem a eliminação dela, mesmo na própria wiki. Por exemplo: fotos livres de actores/actrizes são difíceis de se encontrarem na internet, mas há a possibilidade de consegui-las (sendo ela tirada pelo próprio usuário ou solicitando autorização de algum fotógrafo); nesses casos, a Wikipédia em português não costuma aceitar imagens de conteúdo restrito para ilustrar tais artigos. Mas se a fotografia do centro de controle do LHC for importante para ilustrar o artigo, e o Cern proibir a entrada nele/ou que se fotografe ele, ai sim seria aceitável o carregamento lá. Eu não tenho certeza se esse é o caso: encontrei a pouco imagem de controle do ATLAS sob licença livre, e esta outra com restrição comercial (mas se solicitado ao fotógrafo, é possível que ele relicencie a imagem) que aparentemente não são oficiais (ou de algum funcionário ligado a imprensa do laboratório), e que não precisam seguir aquelas restrições. Na dúvida onde responder, achei melhor fazê-lo aqui. As imagens que sugeri não foram adequadas, mas ao menos servem de exemplo de que, mesmo em áreas restritas, é possível encontrar imagens com licenças livres. =) Agora, depois das suas informações e de ler o artigo sobre o CCC, carreguei no commons a imagem File:CERN Control Center.jpg que estava no flickr. Pretendo carregar mais algumas que encontrei no Flickr ainda hoje.

Mudando de assunto, lembras do script que verifica os ficheiros sem categorias? Pois então, às vezes ele adiciona categorias a essas imagens, levando em consideração o artigo em que a imagem é usada. Além disso, ele adiciona a predefinição "Check categories" para que algum usuário verifique se as categorias adicionadas estão corretas (quando estão, basta remover essa predefinição). Por isso estava a mostrar "As categorias dessa imagem devem ser verificadas". Como você já havia verificado elas, eu removi a predefinição. Giro720 (talk) 15:48, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, demorei para perceber o que se passa. Infelizmente não há como alterar o File history; mas ele não é de todo relevante. A principal função dele é servir de log, registando os vários carregamentos de uma mesma imagem, e a justificativa pelo qual a imagem foi sobrescrita. Esse log é mais útil em esquemas e desenhos criados pelos usuários, como é o caso de bandeiras; já fotografias, raramente são alteradas (no máximo algum retoque, diminuição de ruido, ajuste de cores, etc). Se alguma informação crítica (que dizem respeito a privacidade, ou ilegal) for registada no File history, creio que pode-se pedir a eliminação da imagem para que ela seja carregada novamente. Do contrário, basta editar a página da imagem e corrigir/remover a informação. Giro720 (talk) 20:35, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.
